Multinational direct selling goods company pledges $ 1 M more for pandemic in India

Amway has so far donated Rs 10 Crore since March, 2020 in the fight against Corona

New Delhi, 10 May: At a crucial time when India is fighting vigorously against covid pandemic, the multinational direct selling goods company Amway has come forward to stand in solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Government with a contribution of $1 million to support and accelerate the COVID relief efforts in the country with facilitation of ventilators, oxygen concentrators among others.

With this declaration, the Amway has so far contributed more than Rs.10 crore to covid relief works in India since March, 2020. Beside people in general, the Amway has pledged to support its distributors and more than 1000 employees engaged in its business activities in India.

Milind Pant, CEO, Amway Global said, “India is in the hearts and minds of Amway’s global family. To our colleagues and friends across India, we are committed to support during these tough times.”

He further said that with the support of founding families, as well as Executive Leadership, Amway Corporation has already contributed $750K to the US Chamber’s foundation to provide aid to India.

Pant applauded the courage and determination of people of India throughout the continued pandemic and said that Amway will continue to support India till the Country rescues itself from the current toughest period.

Anshu Budhraja, CEO, Amway India, said that Amway with its existing base of 550,000 distributors and more than 1000 employees and customers in India and have been working together and raised USD 338K (Rs 2.5 crores) of support for our front-line workers and community in this critical phase of covid.

He announced that an additional amount of $ 1M (Rs 7.5 Crores) will arm Amway India to work more with both the central and states level. Amway with the support of its distributors and employees has been deeply involved in spreading the message of immunity and preventive healthcare in the country.

He added that so far, Amway has made a total contribution of close to $1.35 million (approx. Rs. 10 Crores) towards COVID-19 relief work in India.

He further said, “We have launched the COVID-19 Relief Programme and contributed close to Rs 2.50 Crores towards multiple relief initiatives. Our relief program has reached out to more than 2 lakh beneficiaries. The program includes Rs. 1crore towards the PM Care Fund and Rs. 25 lakh each to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Kerala CM’s Distress Relief Fund.”

“We have partnered with United Ways Delhi, Association of Surgeons of India and Meenakshi Mission Hospital & Research Center for distribution of hygiene kits including N95 masks, gloves, sanitizers and hand wash to the frontline workers working in hospitals across the country,” Budhraja said.

He added that we have also organized a sanitization drive to clean, disinfect, and sanitize Amway partner NGOs premises, ensuring the better health and hygiene of its project beneficiaries. “Last but not the least Amway India has pledged to donate Rs. 25 lakhs to the West Bengal Disaster Management Authority too,” he said.
