Saayoni Ghosh, who had insulted Lord Shiva in a tweet, has been appointed as the president of Trinamool Congress youth wing

New Delhi, 06 June: In a major organisational reshuffle, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has elevated Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbour Abhishek Banerjee, nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to the post of party’s national general secretary, and actor-turned-politician Saayoni Ghosh, who had insulted Lord Shiva in a tweet, has been appointed as the in-charge of the party’s youth wing.
Saayoni Ghosh is the same individual who was slammed on social media for insulting Lord Shiva after her tweet from 2015 resurfaced on social media. TMC had named her as their candidate from Asansol South for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021.
Reacting sharply to her elevation, senior BJP leader Aroon Shah said, “It may be TMC party’s internal matter, but it will not only set a bad precedent, it may have an adverse impact on state politics in times to come. Saayoni has been rewarded for her anti-Hindu stance. After her distasteful tweet against the beliefs of Sanatanis resurfaced on Twitter, CM Mamata Banerjee gave her the party flag in a public event.”
“She unsuccessfully contested from Asansol Dakshin in the recently concluded assembly elections as well. Thereafter, TMC supremo handed over the reins of the most important wing of her party to Saayoni. She replaced her nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the Trinamool Yuva Congress President. The writing is on the wall. Mock and ridicule Hindus to win plum posts and opportunities from TMC’s end. This is heinous and atrocious,” Shah added.
On February 18, 2015, the actress had tweeted a picture wherein a female character was seen putting a condom over the sacred Hindu symbol of a Shivling. She wrote, “Gods cudnt have been more useful.” Her tweet maligning Hindu culture was posted on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri, which was observed on February 17 that year, though she had subsequently issued an apology claiming that her account had been hacked.
Following the announcement of her candidature from Asansol South, people had interpreted the move as the complete disregard for Hindu sentiments on the part of Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress. This move of the party didn’t pay off and she lost the election.
Trinamool Congress and Mamata Banerjee have already earned a bad name for itself for rampant minority appeasement and disregard for Hindu sentiments. Once considered a symbol of Indian culture, what is happening in Bengal today is not hidden from anyone. The state witnessed wide spread post poll violence after the party’s landslide victory in the recently-concluded West Bengal Assembly election.
“There are continued reports from almost every part of the state that the anti-social goons and jihadi elements of the TMC are victimizing Hindus through public violence, arson and looting and destroying their houses, temples, settlements, outraging the dignity of their sisters-mothers-daughters and torching their business establishments. Many Hindus are also repetitively being terrorized by political rivals and in all these cases the local police-administration has remained a silent spectator,” said VHP Secretary General Milind Parande demanding that the state government immediately stop the orgy of violence and take stern action against the perpetrators.
Parande added that the Central government should take the unresponsive attitude of the state government seriously and take fitting action. Where even the security forces are not safe, it is easy to understand what the state of plight of the ordinary citizens could be!
Famous American journalist Janet Levy has written an article in ‘American Thinker’ magazine on Bengal as a warning to countries that are opening their doors to Muslim refugees. She writes, “At the time of Partition, the population of Muslims in West Bengal, which was part of India, was slightly more than 12 per cent whereas Hindus in East Bengal who went to Pakistan. Today the population of Muslims in West Bengal has increased to 27 per cent…in some districts it has gone up to 63 percent. On the other hand, Hindus in Bangladesh have reduced from 30 percent to only 8 percent.”
Levy further writes that 27 percent of the Muslim population in any society is enough to start demanding that the place be made a separate Islamic country. She has claimed that Muslims live together and as soon as 27 per cent of the population, Islamic law starts demanding Sharia to create a separate country. Giving the example of West Bengal, she has written that the reason for Mamata Banerjee winning every election continuously is the Muslims there. In return, Mamata makes policies to appease Muslims.
