Indian Youth Congress organises “Rajiv Ek Sankalp” Samagam programme on Sadbhavna Diwas

New Delhi: “Rajiv Gandhi was the architect of modern India, who worked towards making India strong and self-reliant. The country is still reaping the benefits of his vision. It is his foresight that has put India in the ranks of strong, modern nations,” said Srinivas BV, national president, Indian Youth Congress on the occasion of birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister which is also celebrated as Sadbhavna Diwas (Harmony Day).

Srinivas said, “Bharat Ratna Rajiv Gandhi worked towards laying the foundation of modern India. He is called the architect of Digital India and the father of information technology and telecommunication revolution. On his initiative, the Indian telecommunication network was established, the network of telecommunications started from the city to the villages, so that the people of the village could also connect with the country and the world in terms of communication.”

Rajiv Ji was of the view that the age limit to vote in the country is wrong. So he took the initiative to make the youth of the age of 18 years more responsible and empowered towards the country by giving them the right to vote, Srinivas added as Indian Youth Congress organised “Rajiv Ek Sankalp” Samagam programme at Talkatora Stadium, Delhi to mark the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi.

He further said, “Rajiv Gandhi believed that industries cannot prosper without the help of science and technology, so he worked towards bringing computer revolution in the country. With this thinking that the institutions related to Panchayati Raj can do development work effectively, Rajiv Ji strengthened the Panchayati Raj system in the country. He believed that until the Panchayati Raj system is not strong, then democracy cannot reach the lowest level. During his tenure, he prepared the complete proposal of Panchayati Raj system. He laid the foundation of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. At present more than 1.80 lakh students are studying in 551 Navodaya Vidyalayas in the country.”

However, various other programs were also organized on the occasion like blood donation camp, and photo exhibition based on the life of Rajiv Gandhi. 75 youths who worked as Covid warriors during the Corona period were also honoured. Sewing machines were distributed to 250 underprivileged, handicapped and needy women.

Party workers took a pledge to build a better society. Several campaigns were also launched started such as “Quit Drugs, India Jodo” – to help the youth to get rid of the drugs menace, “Rajiv Kavach” – Accident Insurance campaign for the office bearers of Youth Congress across the country, “SOSIYC Blood Sanjeevani” – campaign to prepare list of district wise blood donors, etc.

Many senior leaders of Congress party and eminent poets of the society also reached and addressed the huge gathering at the stadium. Noted poet Sampat Saral, Congress party treasurer Pawan Bansal, AICC Delhi In-charge Shakti Singh Gohil, Rajya Sabha MP Deepender Singh Hooda, Former Haryana PCC president and CWC member Kumari Selja, Congress party spokesperson Smt. Alka Lamba, MLA Anand Shankar, Minister of State Government of Chhattisgarh T.S. Singhdeo, AICC Secretary C.P. Mittal, B.P. Singh, Pardeep Narwal and other senior leaders also graced the event.

Pawan Bansal said that India touched the dimension of development under the leadership of Rajiv Gandhi ji. He focused on the upliftment of every section of the society and worked to strengthen them. Shakti Singh Gohil said that Rajiv Ji paved the way for development in the country through peace establishment. He laid the foundation of modern India.

Indian Youth Congress Media Department Chairman Rahul Rao said that new resolutions of Rajiv Ji were started through the programme “Rajiv Ek Sankalp” today. All the National General Secretaries of Youth Congress, Secretaries, members of the National Executive, State Presidents and many workers across the country were present.
