PATNA: In the last two days,six people who were scheduled to appear as eyewitnesses in the trial courts have been killed by the criminals who were forcing them not to depose before the courts.
On Sunday morning,Jawahar Chaudhury,a retired teacher from a government school was shot dead at  Fateha railway halt under Bachwara police station in Begusarai district.Chaudhury was the only eye witness of murder of his younger son two years  back.He was summoned by the trial court to appear before the court.Criminals who had killed his son had been forcing him not to depose in the court,but he defied them.According to his family members,Jawahar Chaudhury’s son was killed in a land dispute.
On Saturday,four persons were killed on state highway 65 near Purnia .They were going to appear at a Purnia Civil court to appear as witnesses in the Civil court in a land dispute.Their vehicle was hit by a speedy bus coming from opposite direction.All the four died on the spot,one survived.
Survivor, Dashrath Oraoan said they were scheduled to appear in the court on Saturday noon.They had hired the auto from Dhamdaha to Purnia.Those killed in the mishap included Anuplal Oraon,Doman Oraon,Birju Oraon and Satyendra Oraon,all witnesses in the land dispute related murder case.One of the deceased was sarpanch of Bishunpur panchayat.
On Friday morning,Bimal Kumar ,a journalist working for a Hindi daily was shot dead at his Raniganj residence in Araria district.He was scheduled to appear as the sole eye witness at Araria Sessions Court on Saturday in the case related to murder of his brother two years back.
Meanwhile,miscreants fired 20 rounds in a restaurant at Muzaffarpur,70 kms from here.Guests were made to run for their lives under tables when indiscriminate firing started.None was hurt,police dsaud.
