PATNA; Following threats from money lenders,all the six members in a family at Nawada,135 kms north from here entered into a suicide pact .All of them died.
According to the district SP,Dr Gaurav Mangla,two the six money lenders named in the handwritten two page suicide note have been arrested.SP said Police registered FIR against six people_Manish Singh,Vikas Singh,Vijay Singh,Tuntun Singh,Pankaj Singh and Ranjit Singh.Their names were mentioned in the suicide note written by 50 years old Kedarlal Gupta,a fruit vendor of New Area Gadh locality of the district headquarters.
Gupta,his wife,two daughters and two sons consumed poision late last night and they were found gasping for breath this morning by the neighbour’s.Five died in the house,while the 20 years old daughter died at Vardhwan Medical College hospital after giving a dying declaration in which she blamed the money lenders who used to harass the family for the last six months.
The two page suicide note alleged Gupta had returned the loan with five times interest,still the money lenders were harassing the family for more recovery.In his handwritten note Gupta wrote” they are curse on the society,these sharks are harassing us.In the last five years,i have cleared all debts,still they are demanding more and more”.
Money lending was banned in 1975 under the 20_points programme and money lenders(abolition)Act was introduced.
