Patna: Mrs Chhaya Mishra, vice president of Advocates Association and an eminent women lawyer on Sunday regretted silence of political parties on the issues related to lawyers.

After making a study of the manifestos and resolve papers of different political parties, Mrs Chhaya Mishra said none of the contesting parties in the 2024 general elections touched the problems of advocates

She said there are over 15 lakh advocates registered in different states bar councils and members of different associations. She reminded even before Independence, Bar used to be the epicenter of freedom movement and leading lawyers like Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi, Rajendra Prasad, Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Gopalkrishna Gokhale guided the freedom struggle.

Mrs Chhaya Mishra recalled the horrific incident at Patna Civil Court premises where three practising advocates were burnt alive when the transformer exploded and fell on them.Victims had set up make shift work stations under the damaged transformers.

She shared the repeated concerns expressed by the chief justice of India about absence of basic infrastructures for the lawyers and hoped even after the elections, parties would think of advocates issues

Mrs Chhaya Mishra suggested the long pending demands of group insurance, medical insurance, pension and safety and security of the advocates would be considered after the elections.
