Patna। A meeting of the head of the different department of the district held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble President, State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Bihar, Patna, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay Kumar in which the Hon’ble Justice highlighted the different provisions of consumer protection Act, 2019 including those relating to Consumer Protection Council (CPC) .He further addressed the vital role of district official in spreading the consumer rights and making the people at large aware about their rights and duties. More precisely about the obtaining cash-memo/ Invoice in respect to the purchase goods or availing the services from the service providers.
All the district officials assured co-operation in making the public aware through hoardings, banners, pamphlets, announcement through E-Rickshaws and organising street-drama (Nukkad natak) on all possible places where footfalls are higher like railway stations, Bairia Bus Stand, Saras Mela etc.
President and member of district consumer commission, Patna highlighted about E-Commerce rule 2020 under Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and also highlighted penal provisions under section 71 and 72 of consumer protection act,2019 regarding punishment likely to be awarded in the situation of disobedience of the orders passed by the Consumer Commission from district to National level which may be simple imprisonment of one month or fine of rupees 25000 which may extent to imprisonment of period up to 3 years and fine up to rupees 1 Lakh or both.
