PATNA: Janata Dal (United) president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh has demanded setting up of Jayaprakash Narayan Peace Memorial Park and museum at Kohima, the state capital of Nagaland.
Singh, who is heading a party delegation to Nagaland to review preparations for the year-long celebration on the occasion of 120th birth anniversary of socialist leader Jayprakash Narayan, said that it would a befitting tribute to JP.
Lallan Singh said BJP is part of the all party government in the north eastern state and its commitment of ‘election for solution’ (to the Naga imbroglio) made before the state poll in 2018 has not been fulfilled though the five-year term of the assembly is coming to an end.
Supporting the demand, senior JDU leader and former MLC Ranbir Nandan said that by organizing an all-India programme in the memory of JP, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar and party president Lalan Singh has sent across a message to the youths to adopt the Sampoorn Kranti and social reforms.
He said the JDU is the only political party which has announced to organize a programme in the memory of JP. “The struggle of JP is inspiring for the youth as the socialist leader made valuable contributions in the freedom struggle and nation building. The youth would emulate the ideals of the socialist leader and work towards nation building,” he added.
Ranbir said that JP gave a clarion call to fight against corruption and launched Sampoorn Kranti to mobilise the youth. “JP toured the length and breadth of the region and his contributions towards restoring peace in Nagaland is valuable. The Centre should implement the report prepared by JP in this regard,” he added.
