Chief Minister Hemant Soren paves way for the country’s first hydrogen engine related industry to be set up in Jamshedpur

Ranchi/jamshedpur : Under the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Hemant Soren, the nation’s first hydrogen fuel related industry will be established in Jamshedpur. The signing of MoU related to the investment of Rs 354.28 crore in Project Bhawan will be done in the presence of the Chief Minister on Friday. The MoU is to be done between the Department of Industries, Government of Jharkhand and TCPL Green Energy Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (TGESPL). After the MoU, the way will be paved for the establishment of the country’s first hydrogen fuel industry in Jamshedpur.
The Chief Minister had approved the MoU a month back
The Chief Minister inaugurated Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine, Fuel-agnostic, on 28 July 2023 at Jamshedpur, East Singhbhum by M/s TCPL Green Energy Solutions Private Limited (TGESPL), a joint venture between M/s Tata Motors Limited and M/s Cummins Inc, USA. Signing of MoU with M/s TGESPL on the said investment proposal in anticipation of approval of Single Window Clearance Committee and High Power Committee for establishment of unit for manufacturing/production of Engine, Advance Chemistry Battery, H2 Fuel Cell and H2 Fuel delivery systems agreed to the proposal to do so.
Investment of Rs 354.28 crore, latest technology to be used
The unit has been classified under the mega category on the basis of sector-wise investment and direct employment received from big projects classified under the Jharkhand Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy 2021. The proposed capacity of this unit is 4000+ Hydrogen IC Engine / Fuel Agnostic Engine and 10,000+ Battery system, in this work the latest technology of making hydrogen engine will be used, which will benefit the whole country in the coming times.
Advantages of hydrogen fuel
Hydrogen is one such fuel, whose capacity is more than other fuels. Its energy label is high. It is cheap and light. In such a situation, it can be considered a better option between petrol and diesel. Hydrogen fuel can help in controlling pollution to a great extent.
